Rathnavali Natika Shri Harishenayange

Rathnavali is a drama about a princess bearing the title name and a king named Udayana. Considered to be written by an Indian King named Harsha Ratnavali is a drama of four acts. The drama is inspired by the famous love story of King Udayana and Vasavadatta. Many poets who lived around the King Harsha’s period had referred to their encounter. King Sri Harsha is believed to have been inspired from Buddhist literature when he penned the play. The story is not completely a fabricated one. King Harsha has deconstructed the legends woven around King Udayana in his work. The play has been prescribed for various school examinations.
