About the Author
Capt. Elmo (as he commonly known) has written novels too which are widely acclaimed in Sri Lanka and internationally. His ‘Sam’s Story’ was awarded the Gratiaen Price in 2001 and “The Last Kingdom of Sinhalay” the State Literary Award in 2005. His ‘Rainbows in Braille’ was short listed for the Singapore Literary Prize in 2007. He has been a journalist for long time writing on newspapers and magazines. His next book ‘Kakiyan, the story of a Crow’ awaits publication.
As a pilot Elmo he flew for Air Ceylon, Air Lanka and Singapore Airlines where he spent twenty years as an instructor on Boeing 747s. Having completed a very successful flying career spanned over four decades and having won prestigious awards for his writing, Capt. Elmo considers the work of CandleAid Lanka as his greatest contribution to life.
